[20:35] <@GWRD> It is your 25th day stranded on the island known as The Smuggler's Shiv. To date you've faced off against strange chicken-bats, been harrassed by some sort of red-eyed blood-drinking devil, and been attacked by cannibals and undead. [20:36] <Darenel> ( you forgot the crabs, some of us got the crabs…) [20:36] <@GWRD> Escaping from the cannibal camp, which housed a lighthouse, you have decided to follow the southern shore of the island westward in hopes of finding a different way off the island, facing a horrifically huge crab along the way, and fighting with the disease that infests the island. [20:38] <@GWRD> As you recover from your early morning crab battle, this session begins on the beaches of the Shiv. [20:38] <Valio> “The island is quite nice, beyond the deadly wildlife, neighbors and weather…” 06[20:38] * @Ptolamir picks a stick up from the sand. 06[20:38] * Valio keeps a lookout for a decent spear-making material. 06[20:39] * @Ptolamir looks over at Valio. 06[20:40] * Darenel looks around for something that can be used as a Staff [20:42] <@GWRD> There is various pieces of soft driftwood on the beach from a few shipwrecks, but you would have to go into the jungle to find something structurally suitable to use as a quarterstaff. [20:50] <@GWRD> The surf is quiet and a lot of the beach is exposed, as the waves lap at the shoreline. 06[20:50] * Valio keeps putting distance between the party and the lighthouse. [20:51] <@GWRD> (Continuing along the shoreline?) 06[20:51] * Janken follows behind [20:54] <@GWRD> You continue along the shoreline for the next 3 hours or so, before the sun starts becoming overbearing, and the sand blistering hot. You start to see the air sway to the heat rising off the beach, where the sea doesn't touch it. [20:55] <Valio> “Head inland. We can look for weapon materials and rest from the heat. And have a meal.” [20:55] <Darenel> “We need a shelter from the heat” 06[20:56] * Darenel nods 06[20:56] * Janken sprinkles everyone with Create Water to cool them off [20:57] <@Ptolamir> “Indeed.“ 06[20:57] * @Ptolamir heads for the tree line further. [20:58] <@GWRD> You decide to head inward to rest out the vicious heat, and to search for materials to use as clubs, spears, and quarterstaves. [21:02] <@GWRD> (You may roll survival or a weaponcrafting skill (if you have it) to see if you find something usable. 1 hr per search) [21:02] <Janken> 1d20+7 survival [21:02] <TolBot> [Janken's 1d20(19)+7]: 26 survival [21:02] <Valio> 1d20 survival [21:02] <TolBot> [Valio's 1d20(8)]: 8 survival [21:04] <Darenel> 1d20+12 survival [21:04] <TolBot> [Darenel's 1d20(4)+12]: 16 survival [21:04] <@GWRD> Janken and Darenel you find something suitable to use as a weapon, while you wait out the fierce mid-day heat. 06[21:07] * Valio tries to figure out how much longer the heat will last. [21:08] <@GWRD> You estimate around two hours, that seems standard. 06[21:08] * Valio goes out looking for a weapon again. [21:08] <Valio> 1d20 [21:08] <TolBot> [Valio's 1d20(13)]: 13 [21:08] <@GWRD> Though you might be able to leave a little sooner if you use the sea-breeze to help keep you cool during the last hour. 11[21:09] <@Theon_Tokko> 1d20+5 [21:09] <TolBot> [Theon_Tokko's 1d20(18)+5]: 23 [21:09] <@GWRD> You find a suitable branch that will work well for you on your second search. 11[21:09] <@Theon_Tokko> (sorry, was in the bathroom lol) [21:10] <@GWRD> Theon finds a suitable branch with ease. 06[21:11] * Valio looks at the group. “Shall we continue or do we want to build a shelter here for a few days?” [21:12] <Janken> “I am ok to go on.” [21:12] <@Ptolamir> (the branch was in the bathroom?) [21:12] <@Ptolamir> “What is the purpose of creating a shelter to reside in for days?” [21:12] <Darenel> “So far any shelter we build has attracted enemies.” [21:13] <@Ptolamir> “I am inclined to keep moving as possible that we can discover a way off this island.“ [21:13] <@Ptolamir> “But there might be wisdom to spend two night in a row at a place, especially if we find a good natural shelter. [21:13] <Valio> “We will need a shelter eventually to restock our food stores. I was not certain how soon we wanted to do so.” [21:14] <@GWRD> (Food stocks: 6 days left) [21:14] <@Ptolamir> “But as Darineel, says, our long term goal is to keep moving to keep secure.” [21:16] <Darenel> (and u guys didnt want to eat the crabs) 06[21:21] * Valio hefts his suitable branch and prepares to head out once again. [21:23] <@GWRD> You return back to the shoreline, only to spot another large crab combing the beach for scraps. 06[21:24] * Valio begins to retreat 06[21:25] * Darenel follows the others 06[21:26] * @Ptolamir also hides. [21:26] <@GWRD> You retreat back into the jungle, where you follow the shoreline from the safety of trees, until you are well past the fearsome crab. [21:27] <@GWRD> It's nearly sunset when you spot off in the distance a wrecked ship on the beach, it's hull lying on its side on the beach. [21:29] <Valio> “Clear it and shelter or keep going?” [21:29] <Janken> “We should see if there's anything useful,at least.” 11[21:30] <@Theon_Tokko> “Like weapons…” [21:31] <Darenel> (how long before sunset?) [21:31] <@GWRD> (By the time you reach the ship) [21:32] <Darenel> (next question, did the DM run out of undeads for this map) [21:33] <Valio> “If we need light, I can create globes to follow us around.” [21:34] <@GWRD> (He certainly has not) [21:34] <Darenel> “Searching a wreck in the dark would not be a good idea, the wood might be rotted away or there could be who knows what lurking in it.” [21:35] <@Ptolamir> “We should camp nearby it at least.“ 06[21:38] * Valio follows the others and creates globes of light when it gets dark enough to need them. [21:40] <@GWRD> (Camping or exploring?) [21:42] <Darenel> (i am for camping first , but i will follow the others if they go explorng) [21:43] <Janken> [i vote camp first] [21:43] <@GWRD> The group makes camp near the shipwreck, finding a spot that's suitable to the task. As the evening rolls on however, the sea takes on that eerie familiar green glow. 06[21:43] * @Ptolamir prepares to camp for the evening. 06[21:43] * @Ptolamir watches the water with wary unease. 06[21:45] * Valio keeps to the camp and works on a quiet drum solo he's been writing. 06[21:45] * Darenel prepares his new staff just in case it is needed 03[21:50] * Shaddow is now known as Shad`afk 06[21:51] * Valio is willing to take first watch. 06[21:51] * Janken can take second 06[21:51] * Darenel can take third [21:56] <@GWRD> A surprisingly calm evening, nothing comes to harass the weary travellers as evening breaks into day. 06[21:57] * @Ptolamir awakes and prepares his spells for the day. 06[21:57] * Valio makes coffee for the group. 06[21:59] * Janken graciously accepts [22:00] <Darenel> “Thank you” [22:02] <Darenel> (are we all healed up and such?) [22:05] <@GWRD> (+2 hps, +1 stat lost (if not diseased), oh and I need to figure out if anybody has gotten better or contracted something) [22:05] <@Ptolamir> (i contracted something but then I got better) [22:05] <Valio> (I probably have a check to make) [22:06] <@GWRD> (So on my random disease roll, Ptolamir gets a Fort save to see if he gets infected by the party, while Valio and Orzady make saves) [22:07] <@Ptolamir> 1d20+0 Fort save [22:07] <TolBot> [Ptolamir's 1d20(18)+0]: 18 Fort save [22:07] <@Ptolamir> (woo hoo!) [22:09] <Valio> (*needs to create alternate spell to goodberry named “goodcoffee”*) [22:09] <@GWRD> (+1 int Valio and Orzady) [22:10] <@GWRD> The ship has not moved from its beached spot, as the tide as retreated back into the sea for the moment. [22:10] <Valio> “Everyone ready to explore?” [22:11] <Darenel> “Aye” 11[22:12] * @Theon_Tokko yawns and stretches still feeling a bit naked without his armor 06[22:15] * @Ptolamir nods. 06[22:15] * @Ptolamir walks out onto the beach. 06[22:16] * Janken nods 06[22:17] * Valio swings his branch a few times to get a feel for it before moving towards the shipwreck. [22:18] <@GWRD> The ship, an old boat by the name of the Wavereaper, lies on its side, it's guts ripped out by the reefs and ocean long ago. A large gapping hole lies in it's mid-section, covered in a layer of barnacles and slimy plant-life. 03[22:21] * Shad`afk is now known as Shaddow 06[22:22] * Darenel follows the others exploring the shipwreck 06[22:23] * @Ptolamir remains on dry land. 06[22:23] * Janken follows into the ship as well [22:24] <@GWRD> (So Valio, Darenel, and Janken are going on the shipwreck?) [22:24] <Janken> [yes] [22:24] <@GWRD> 3#1d4 [22:24] <TolBot> [GWRD's 1d4(4)]: 4 [22:24] <TolBot> [GWRD's 1d4(1)]: 1 [22:24] <TolBot> [GWRD's 1d4(2)]: 2 [22:26] <@GWRD> As you are exploring the shipwreck, Janken and Valio hear a loud crack behind them. Where Darenel was standing moments ago, a hole of rotten wood appears to be in his place. There is a THUD sound that quickly follows it. [22:26] <@GWRD> 1d6 [22:26] <TolBot> [GWRD's 1d6(6)]: 6 06[22:26] * Darenel yells out in pain [22:27] <@GWRD> Darenel, you find yourself in the galley of the ship, lying amist a pile of rotten floor beams and rusted eating utensils, as you fall through the floor. 06[22:27] * Janken calls out “Are you alright?!” 06[22:28] * Darenel yells through the hole “i could be better, i might need help getting out of here” [22:28] <Valio> “Is there anything usable down there? A rope, perhaps? I'm all out at the moment.” [22:28] <@Ptolamir> ( “Somebody pull this fork outta my @$$”) 06[22:28] * Darenel collects himself from the floor then looks around for any danger [22:29] <@GWRD> The ship does not appear to have anything dangerous in it, apart from the rotting floor boards. [22:31] <@GWRD> After an hour or so of searching the ship, you only manage to find rusty scrap metal and lots of rotting wood and personal effects. 06[22:31] * Darenel looks around watching his step 06[22:32] * Valio gathers what metal he can with hopes to use it later. 06[22:32] * @Ptolamir smiles as he sees folks return. [22:33] <@Ptolamir> “Nothing usable this time, I see.” [22:33] <@Ptolamir> (gotta afk, sorry) [22:33] <Valio> “Not as much as I'd hoped.” [22:33] <Janken> “Afraid not.” [22:35] <Darenel> (well at least i found this fork, now i can eat like a civilized person) [22:36] <Valio> “shall we continue along the coast?” 11[22:39] <@Theon_Tokko> “Sure” [22:41] <@GWRD> You begin your day travelling down the coast, and a little more than an hour down the shore line you come to yet another shipwreck, however this one is on a chunk of island that sticks out over a small expanse of water. 11[22:41] <@Theon_Tokko> “Whos turn is it to tumble through the floor?” [22:41] <Janken> “I still haven't had a go at it.” [22:42] <Darenel> (we have to swim to it?) [22:42] <@GWRD> (Yes you do) 11[22:42] <@Theon_Tokko> (how hard of a swim? lol) 11[22:44] * @Theon_Tokko looks out at the ship and tries to decide if he wants to risk it or not [22:45] <Janken> “I uh..I think I'll stay behind this time.” [22:46] <@GWRD> The swim is probably difficult enough that those without strong swimming skills would give pause to attempting it. [22:47] <Valio> “Well, another shipwreck we can't explore. Continue on?” 11[22:47] <@Theon_Tokko> (rough DC?) [22:49] <@GWRD> (yes) [22:49] <@GWRD> (DC 20) 11[22:49] <@Theon_Tokko> (so, its a good one to see if Tolbot wants to kill Theon off with.. *grins*) 06[22:49] * TolBot raises an eyebrow. [22:50] <Janken> [lol] 11[22:51] <@Theon_Tokko> “Well, we 'could' explore it, just one of us will have to take a risk to make it there… Do we have enough rope to set up a return line?” [22:52] <@GWRD> As the group discusses if they want to explore the shipwreck or not, this session comes to a close for the evening.
