Background

It is best to start from the beginning of the tale of Edo family, as they have a long history within the Empire.

The first recorded event that stemmed from the Edo family was with the establishment of the Xenui empire, some generations past, when Takashi Edo, friend, and mentor of the Emperor was selected as the first Warlord for the Xenui family. There victories great, there battles mercifulness. They struck down the rogue Tengu that roamed the land that they claimed as their own, stretching their own borders in a mad rush to take all that they can.

In the years that followed, the third Generation of the Edo clan, was met with bloodshed in the defense of the Empire from the Tengu, and their allies, the vile Ogres, and Orcs, trying to reclaim their lands. That is when young Kinto (3rd Generation) stepped up to his father’s side, and led the Xenui Samurai to victory and laid them all to waste without a great loss of their own. Kinto’s father, Tsugiru, and his grandfather Takashi, where felled.

Kinto led the Samurai to several other victories during his charge as the Emperors Warlord, until he was too old to lead the charge, and passed the title down to his Second Son, Sato.
Not much is known from the times of the Warlord Sato (4th Generation), as his rule was ruthless, and any slanderous talk was handled harshly. All that is known that he brought great shame to his family name and commited Sepuku, and his title passed to his Uncle Arata.

Warlord Arata (5th Generation), once again brought the Edo family back into is pristine place, and the people he oversaw worshiped him to his own dismay. He passed quietly in his sleep at the age of 49.
Daisuke Edo, Warlord Arata’s grandson (7th Generation) was the next to claim the title. He once again pushed the vile enemies of the Xenui Empire back into the darkness that climbed out from, until such a time that he too passed quietly in his sleep at the young age of 40.

The times of the Edo clan fade from history, there victories becoming legend. . .

Two generations later, the once again appear in the texts, as Gorou Edo, and his son Tindai, push through the hordes of the darkness that fell upon the gates of the Xenui empire. Tindai covered in blood of the enemy hordes, presented the head of the leader to his Emperor, only to witness his father’s head to fall beside it at the Emperors own hand. Unbeknownst to the Edo family that have fought the darkness for years, that a pact between them had been forged, and now presented with two options. . .

Exile, or Death. . .

He chose Exile, and was given a week to flee, before a bounty was placed on his head. . .

Tindai’s father now dead, a bounty on his head, and at the age of 21, Tindai found himself, and what is left of his family exiled from the Empire in which they served for the past ten generations of heroic battles, triumphs, and glorious deaths.

What is left of Tindai's tale is yet to be told…

The Personal Triumphs of Tindai Edo:

  • Age 8: His first kill. A Band of Tengu invaded the empire, and into his home. He grabbed up his father’s Wakizashi, and slit the creatures throat from behind before it could harm his older sister.
  • Age 11: He became the youngest Samurai in the history of the Xenui empire, by completing the Trail of the Elders, a test at which youngest men don’t accomplish until the age of 16.
  • Age 16: Joined his father’s side as the Emperor’s most trusted aid, he led countless skirmishes against the enemies of the empire.
  • Age 20: He personally raided the enemy’s stronghold and took the head of the leader, Urinai, a formable Half-Orc Tengu. This victory cost him not only his place by the emperor, his family was betrayed, his father beheaded, and himself exiled and hunted.
